Michael is the founder and CEO of Miller C. & Co. He is a strategic innovator and business leader with proven success in driving growth and achieving exceptional results in research and development across the aerospace, defense, and space industries. He has helped companies secure significant R&D funding and has lead high-performing teams to develop innovative, state-of-the-art technologies through creative approaches that deliver results at speed and scale for defense industry clients. Michael is an engaging leader who expertly navigates strategic roadmaps and drives operational excellence in highly regulated environments to facilitate sustainable growth. He is a recognized thought leader in creating successful “go-to-market” strategies for defense market adoption of wireless communication, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity and sensing technologies.
Michael is also the Director of the Engineering, Test & Evaluation Division at Virginia Tech Applied Research Corporation (VT-ARC) where he leads the development, execution and growth of the corporation’s research, development and engineering of advanced wireless communications and sensing systems. Prior to joining VT-ARC, Michael was the Director of Operations for a mid-sized defense contracting company. He also spent six years as a Senior Advisor for the Secretary of Defense at the ISR Task Force, where he provided oversight in advancing and accelerating the development of over $900M in innovative technologies for global military operations. In this role, he was regularly consulted to provide input on operational decisions for the Secretary of Defense, Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence (USDI), and the National Security Council. Michael also served in assignments at U.S. Strategic Command, Defense Intelligence Agency and Joint Forces Command. He is a combat veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, having served in the U.S. Air Force as an aviator on C2/ISR airborne platforms.
